Open communication frequencies have been restored following a period of extended
outage in Sector 7. Using the opportunity to launch a fresh system update, the
CCC extended the outage by four hours in order to update servers and run through
cursory quality control testing processes. During the downtime, countless users
flocked to alternatives, most of which have still yet to return. "W-we're still
here, everyone..." was the statement provided by CCC's public relations official
before he skirted back into his office awkwardly.

In subject of: CorpSec Unity Cracks, Commissioner Steps Down (Edited by Niamh)

In addition to a news article blaring on the headlines, CorpSec has leaked video
footage of an extremely hostile confrontation and showdown between the
Praetorian Ghost and the Commissioner Kirin Anic that took place inside CorpSec
headquarters this morning. The leaked footage seems to be from the helmet camera
of an officer who was present for the event, depicting the following:

A crowd of CorpSec officers lines the central hallway of CorpSec, all along the
walls and both entrances. To the north can be seen the barred entrance to the
cellblock, and the lobby a distant way off to the south. In the very center of
the hallway, with the crowd keeping well away from, is the familiar armored
silhouette of the Ghost and the Commissioner. Both are pointing rifles at each
other, the Ghost armed with a bullet based weapon, the Commissioner armed with a
laser particle rifle. The audio is cutting in and out from the noise of the
crowd, but both the Ghost and the Commissioner can be heard shouting at each
other, the details of the words spoken fading in and out with the static from
the shaky video footage. Both of them stare intensely at each other, the
argument continuing for a long time, until finally, the Commissioner lowers his
weapon. Ghost warily approaches and places handcuffs on the man, the stunned
officers surrounding not intervening on either individual's behalf. The video
cuts out as Ghost takes the particle accelerator rifle from the Commissioner.

In the aftermath of his arrest and imprisonment, Commissioner Anic stepped down
from his post from the general population cells, expressing that he would like
someone more capable to take the position.

A local student has been speaking with members of the Workers' Union about
the impact the combined workers' strike and high tariffs have had on prices
of survival basics - water, particularly, is horrifically expensive, and to
avoid a life-endangering full-on crisis, she's attempting to convince them to
make it a "working strike" where the Union workers are paid by an unnamed
third party to continue production of certain absolute necessities, but
distribute them as necessary rather than sell them or participate in the
economy. Thus, the Union can still make its statement without the most
vulnerable bystanders paying unduly for it.

She also encourages those with access to or a surplus of drinking water, ice,
electrolyte drinks, other non-diuretic beverages, or money, to donate them
for redistribution to those currently going without - several redistribution
centres have popped up throughout the districts.

medical aid, paid for in charity by Biodyne's Chairlady and Chief Registrar

In subject of: Hell Freezes Over: An Address from President Navarro

Seated behind the grand, polished wood desk in the USE's Presidential office,
President Navarro is filmed in silence at first, the cameras capturing hisfigure
from the waist up. He looks directly toward the viewer as he
speaks:

"Citizens of Sector Seven, we stand on the precipice of anarchy. It has been
only two years since humanity banded together with remarkable cohesion,
accomplishing a feat unimagined throughout the history of our great planet.
Yet today we are more divided than ever before; civilians, corporations, law
enforcement... We have been engaged in an informal war. These hostilities
must come to an end, and CorpSec is not the only institution that must take
action if we mean to bring peace back into our home. My office must act,
too."

"Let there be no misunderstanding about the USE's perception of the events
leading up to the Natsukashi Riots: CorpSec's decision to invade a
residential neighborhood in a Soviet ZSU-23-4 tank twice in two days, on both
occasions using said tank to wreak damage upon this neighborhood, on one
occasion killing civilians mowed by beneath the treads of the tank, cannot be
denied as the irrevocable instigator of the violence that followed. Without
the decisions that CorpSec made, both at the incident's inception and when it
refused each of the many opportunities it was given to peacefully withdraw,
there would have been no riots, no gunfire, and no loss of life.

"It is thus the position of the USE that those who participated in the
defense of the Natsukashi District against CorpSec on the day of the
Natsukashi Riots will receive a full Presidential pardon. This pardon is
made with apologies from the USE for the actions of law enforcement under
direction of Commissioner Kirin Anic, who has since been detained, convicted,
and executed for his egregious crimes. Likewise, the CorpSec officers who
were under Anic's command the day of the riots are pardoned for their
actions, a determination owed to the culture within CorpSec demanding that
all subordinates follow the orders of their superior.

"In short, no other citizen, be they civilian or law enforcement, denizen of
the slums or the high-rises, will be pursued, prosecuted, or condemned, for
the decisions that were made by one convicted criminal.

"The time to heal is upon us, and it will require us to bend."

"In the coming months, I will be working with law enforcement to reevaluate
its practices and modes of operation. Practices that have long been standard
must be examined and revised to ensure that nothing like what transpired
across the last few months ever transpires again. At the end of the day, let
us never forget that our first responsibility is as the caretakers of the
common man. I entreat law enforcement to continue to work for, not against,
the population in which it operates. Good day, Sector Seven.

The broadcast cuts to the image of the USE flag before holovids return to
their regularly scheduled programming.

In a lengthy fluff-piece published by Northwestern News and Associates, matrix
security corporation and family-dominated Koryusai Corp. has been celebrated
for its exceptional philanthropic efforts in Sector 7 and the area known as
'The Dregs' specifically. Having sat down with Chief Executive Officer Hitoshi
Koryusai to discuss his ambitious plans, reporter Tom Mueller recorded the
following:

"It brings all of us at Koryusai great sadness to know that there are parts of
this great sector not as comfortable as they could be. The homeless problem in
these 'Dregs' is terrible, just terrible. There are many problems today that we
cannot solve, even with all the credits in the world. This problem is one that
we can solve with credits, and it is time that the corporate sector took
ownership over these types of things."

When questioned for specifics, Hitoshi explained the details of his company's
vision for a brighter and better tomorrow, claiming:

"By September of 2374, one year from now, there will be no one unhoused left
in Sector 7. This is my promise, and the promise of Koryusai Corp."

What began as a small water drive initiated by a local student has spread
sector-wide, and generous people from all over Seven, including certain
charitable members of the Worker's Union, collected an abundance of water and
electrolytes - independent street contractors have been efficiently
redistributing them to those who need it most.

Although the Workers' Union strike and the CorpSec tariffs both ended shortly
after the beginning of the drive, people throughout the sector whose finances
were impacted by the temporarily-inflated prices are nonetheless grateful for
any assistance getting back on their feet, distributors assuring them that
the corporations can't dictate their survival that easily.
