A slightly grainy camera view comes slowly into focus, the crackles and lines
fading away to show the figure of a short, coppery red haired woman with a
mousy look to her. She's sitting at the edge of a desk, giving a friendly
wave and an off-center grin to the camera, a mug sitting behind her on the
table. The camera tilts momentarily as the camera-person adjusts it, the
woman tilting with it as her brow furrows uncertainly. Whatever issues had
are remedied and she begins to speak, "Heya folks, s'Reese Roppe here. Jus'
lettin' ya all know I've been asked by th'folks over at th'Union t'step up
an' take over th'lead fer now." she lets a few beats pass, eyes darting
around as she looks at something behind the camera, "...Expect some changes
in th'price've things while they're bein' reorganized. Hope t'do some fair
business with folks soon, cause we ain't gonna be doin' any unfair sorts."
she says with a flash of her teeth and nod, giving the camera a quick
flick-of-the-wrist wave goodbye, "Workers, I'll see ya round th'Community
Center. Anyone who's interested in a meetin' can shoot me an email. See ya
all." she says with another grin as she picks back up her mug, the camera
fading out to static. A faint voice can be heard in the buzz of whitenoise
before it fades out completely, "Least I didn't call anyone a-..."

The Lotus Circle has recently been silent, but the media has gone abuzz with the
naming of a new Exalted One, The Lotus Circle, seeking a leader that can
represent strength, and resolute will. With Tango Steele's recommendation as the
former Exalted One steps down, The Lotus Circle as a whole have supported Tango's
decision. Now, stepping up into the limelight is none other than Rita Flores.
Known to be born and raised in the dregs of Sector Seven, Rita Flores is an
individual who struck out from the Dregs, known for her participation in aiding
Mars in their resistance against the Terran Initiative as a Syndicate Bondsman,
and being the Dojo Master of Infinite Blade Works Dojo, a Dojo that recently
opened up to all proles in Sector Seven close to two years ago. Rita, while she
possesses a rough and tumble history, Rita has represented Venusian martial arts,
and the arts of warriors past, while also committing to learn all she can of
Lotus's arts and ways.

There is obvious controversy stirring among the media at such a choice for the
new Exalted One, and attempts by journalists and reporters to speak to Rita have
wound up thus far with Rita remaining elusive and hard to find. It was only until
recently, did Rita present herself to the Media, to address the public.
The video cuts in to a short young woman, greeting viewers with a genuine smile.
She is seated within the confines of a small dojo, upon a cushion. Her hair is
stylized, short golden blonde hair with pink streaks, tied into a small bun, held
in place with hairsticks. deep violet eyes from cybernetic lenses that catch
light and reflect it look upon the Camera, as Rita pats down ^xa brocaded
houmongi kimono decorated with a^x silver dragon.

"When the tides of change come for someone, very few ever expect it." Rita starts
with, her tone of voice level and collected, as she speaks, the Camera zooms out
some as she stands, both hands remaining at her lap, the sleeves of her Kimono
flowing a little. A katana is sheathed at her hip, tied with a small length of
cord. Among the corners of the room are a few other individuals, clad in
bodysuits and armed with Katana or other blades themselves.

"I certainty did not expect this one. I'm Rita Flores." she gestures a hand to
herself, a coy smile showing upon her face, that somewhat stretches the long,
thin scar that rights across the left side of her face. "I've been a member of
the Lotus Circle for some time. Amazing people with incredible talents that have
shown me a side to myself and the world I would not have found otherwise." she
starts with and bows her head as if in respect to those she speaks of. "Many of
you may know me as a warrior, a mercenary, a hunter." she said. "I won't
discredit that. Its true." she said. "But I hope to represent the Lotus Circle
with strength but also a gentle guiding hand." she explains after, and keeps her
smile. "In the coming days, I have much to learn, and much to adapt to, because
of this, I will be open to holding meetings with representatives of the many
organizations across Sol." she adds after, she keeps a poised stance, hands now
at her sides, one hand slightly beside the hilt of her sheathed weapon, a stance
of a warrior.

But then her gaze spans wide across the Camera. "But for everyone watching, There
will be action to look forward to! Martial arts competitions, Sports, and
televised Dojo events. I will be spear heading projects like these across Sol,
and working alongside my Family in the Lotus to not only involve the public more,
but bring exciting events that everyone can sink their teeth into, and I
encourage those seeking to host events that want Sponsorship and support from the
Lotus Circle to contact us." she explains with enthusiasm, it showing in her
smile and in her eyes.

"Light your fires of creation and passion, Sol. Art takes many unique forms,
nuture it within yourselves, and show the world your inner beauty." she said
passionately, opening her arms wide as she can't help but show something of a big
grin. "'Cause I know you've all got it in you." There is a long pause, then, as
the Camera fades out, she gives an intense gaze to her viewers. ^o"Grow. Be a
force of Nature." With that, the video cuts out to black, the Lotus Circle Symbol
floating across the screen briefly, before cutting out.

Even those in the highest echelon of society know of the underworld,
especially with the latest events that put the criminal dark underbelly of
the galaxy in quite the public eye. It seems yet again there's some
movement, with even the common ganger thug on the street whispering about a
shift of power. This is followed by a high profile case on Mars where a
couple of men and women - farmers, businesspersons and government officials,
rumored to have ties to the mob were found dead, bodies desecrated in brutal
fashion as what seems to be perhaps a show of power. The only announcement
from the Martian government regarding these was that it is merely 'internal
conflict' and was being investigated.

Word is crawling its way through the digital and analog grapevines: there's a
grassroots initiative brewing. According to various entrepreneurial
associations and local news networks, business owners are coming together in
an effort to improve supply lines and shipping infrastructure throughout Sol.
"It takes nearly four hours for the supplies I purchase in the Matrix to
arrive at my doorstep," said one shopkeep during a public meeting. "The same
goes for anything I have to send to customers through UPEX. They're waiting
hours and hours for packages that drones could deliver in mere minutes."

Parties interested in discussing logistics are being encouraged to seek out
the proprietor of the Black Sheep Bar and Grill in Sector 7 on Terra, where
some of these meetings have been taking place. "My business depends on goods
shipped in from elsewhere. Reckon I need this change as much as anyone, even
if it's only temporary," said the owner, according to a small-time holomag
marketed at the food service industry. "So come by for a free pint, and
we'll talk shop."

Reporters gathered at the headquarters of The Collective today, drawn there by
rumors of an important announcement to be made. A striking woman with Asiatic
features, previously unknown to the media who frequently cover The Collective,
stepped in front of the crowd and delivered the following words.

"Members of the media. I am sorry to say that you have been brought here to hear
some unhappy news." The woman, though clearly nervous at standing before the
cameras, continued in a strong voice, showing poise in the face of the myriad
flashbulbs.

"Evangeline Adaire, chairwoman of the collective, has decided to step down for
the foreseeable future due to personal reasons. Kensington Whitelake, who has
been the chief of operations for The Collective for several months, has been
named by the board of directors to take over the office. This change will be
effective immediately."

At a shouted question from press, the woman answered, "I am Chairman Whitelake's
assistant, and he asked me to deliver these remarks in his stead today. He
regrets that the needs of the office prevent him from being able to meet with you
personally."

Another question quickly followed, to which the woman answered, "At this time,
the chairman and the board have decided that, out of respect for former
Chairwoman Adaire, her loved ones, and their privacy, no details will be given as
to her reasons for stepping down. They are to remain between her and her family
so long as she may wish. The chairman views family life as precious to all of his
workers, and he will not violate that for any reason whatsoever."

This message thus delivered, the young woman finished the meeting, and
disappeared back into the headquarters of The Collective, leaving the assembled
press to wonder into recorders and to producers back at TV stations just what
this change in the leadership of the organization bodes for the future.

A crowd of reports chitters near the Unions main buildings, many of which
seem to have gotten wind of what is going on. As they finish up their final
check on their equipment, it seems the doors to the Unions community center
open up. A young man with brown eyes is seen skirting away from the scene,
as cameras continue to be fixated on the door. After a few moments, the doors
swing wide open revealing a massive bull of a Martian man. Dressed in a
cowboy hat and duster covering most of his body, aside from the midsection
where a dress shirt seemed tight around him. In his hand is a bottle of
Micky Dan whiskey and a glass. He pours himself a glass, before downing it
in one solid gulp. A few of the reports get in closer. Sir are the rumors
true? Has the Steward stepped down from her seat? The reports fix their
cameras to try and capture the full figure of the imposing man. He looked
over the gathering of cameras and people and gives a slow nod. I do regret
that Ms. Reese had to step down from her seat, due to personal issues that I
shall not disclose to the public. His voice is a bassy one. His steel eyes
catch the street light as he looks toward the center of the crowd. My name
is Angus Johnson, I will be taking over the position of Steward. This is
effective as of immediately. He seems to give a slow pan along the crowd.
Sol has been going through many troubles in the last few months, I am going
to help bring the system back in control. Starting with getting our supply
lines back in full operation, and push for jobs for all of my fellow members
who are stuck unable to do their jobs in the belt. With cameras flashing the
massive Martain turns around towards the door. Raising the empty glass he
says to the crowd. Warm Sands. He soon disappears behind the door, as the
cameras turn off.

One day, completely out of the blue, a viral video began making its way
around the Matrix, quickly spreading due to both its subject matter.

Atrin Ilander, a mostly unknown resident of Sector Seven, has announced a
large project to hunt down files of English, with the intention of returning
the dead language to life, and allowing it to be spoken once more. Details
via word of mouth are scarce, but there seems to be at least one news station
that has picked up on the video and Atrin's efforts, running a story on it.
The overall gist seems to be that Atrin is asking for volunteers to search
for English documents in the Matrix, and send them to him in the hopes of
finding audio of it being spoken, from which he can reassemble the tongue.

Atrin Ilander's call to the Solar System has been answered, and huge
quantities of data make their way towards him. For some time, the datapipes
of the Matrix are chock full of English files gathered by volunteers, all
heading towards a central location somewhere in Sector Seven. Atrin himself,
by popular rumor, has seemingly sequestered himself among the work of sorting
it, searching for the Rosetta Stone that he feverishly hunts for among the
mountainous piles of data gifted to him.

Whether he will have any success or not is yet to be seen; but one effect has
already been felt from the undertaking: the massive search effort for English
files in the Matrix has had the unintended side effect of 'clearing the
pipes', resulting in increased data flow for practically all of mankind's
civilization, boosting infrastructure that relies upon digital means.

"...an unexpected sighting," reports a popular GBIL newscaster, looking up at
the camera as he transitions from one topic to the next. "Deja Johanssen, a
Hunter for the Saturni Valkyries, was seen exiting a private shuttle onto Elysium
Station earlier this morning. It was the first time the public had seen Johanssen
in months."

The screen cuts to some footage of the Elysium dock, where a crowd of onlookers
has begun to cluster around an expensive-looking shuttle, jostling one another
with shoulders and elbows as they angle for a glimpse of what's ahead. Ahead, a
tall and leggy young woman in a likewise expensive-looking outfit steps from the
transport. Her face, though notably pale, is somewhat obscured by a birdcage veil
draped from her Saturni-style cloche hat. She's accompanied by a few others,
including some security personnel. Suddenly, several reporters are pushing
forward, their digital recorders and comm units held out as they shout questions
like, "Where've you been all this time, Miss Johanssen?" and "Tell us about your
injury, Miss Johanssen. Is it as bad as they say?" and "Miss Johanssen, when's
the earliest you think you'll be able to return to the pitch?"

As the young woman is led away, a Saturni man in a dark suit steps forward, hands
raised toward the crowd, and says in composed voice, "Miss Johanssen is very busy
this morning, but I assure you, she is well on her way toward recovery. I am
certain you will see much more of her very soon." And then he's turning and
walking briskly away, making to catch up with the woman and her entourage.

Back to the newscaster. "You may remember Johanssen from last season. After
signing a three-year contract with the Valkyries, she became one of the youngest
professional gravball players to hit the pitch in years. The team was on a
winning streak until they went up against the Jovian Scythe in a close match.
During the game's final minutes, Johanssen was thrown from the pitch and had to
be evacuated to Valhalla ICU. It remains to be seen whether she'll make a full
recovery, but after today's appearance, many Valkyries fans are hopeful."

The screen cuts to a series of short interviews with Valkyries fans, sports
experts, and other commentators, all with very different opinions on the matter -
- and not all of them flattering, either.

Lermontov standing before the crossed flags of the Sol Ascendancy and the Jovian

Sol. The Steward of the Union, Angus Johnson, has overstepped his boundaries by
attempting to restrict the trade of titanium and declare it under his purview to
do so. When reminded that it is not - that all restrictions on trade are the sole
province of the Ascendancy - as well as presented with the fact that many use
titanium besides Biodyne and the Collective, including the Ascendancy itself for
military and research purposes, his flippant answer was to tell us to buy it from
the Collective and then insult the Ascendancy and insinuating criminal activity
when we've actually brought crime down quite dramatically." Pausing, the usual
distant and unemotional tone is broken with a severe and thundering condemnation.
"For trying to usurp the powers of the Ascendancy and insulting the Ascendancy,
Angus Johnson is charged with Treason and hereby removed from his post as Steward

A controversial interview spreads like wildfire due to its incendiary talking
points and positively juicy clickbait potential. Angus Johnson, former
Steward of the Union was caught for an interview by an upstart journalist.
"It was an experiment in worker's rights, diplomacy, and the values of the
Ascendancy." He was quoted as saying, sitting back against a leather couch as
his imposing form took up most of the camera's frame, "The result? The
Ascendancy is no friend of the free market, no friend of the workers. The
current administration is, simply, incapable. Every single word in edgewise
I had with them had to be fought for, while they merely made demands." He
flashed a pearly glint of his teeth, slyly turning to the reporter more
clearly, "Do you trust your stocks with the current Consul's administration?
One that would sooner bleed your corporation dry? One that would work you to
the bone under threats and zero negotiation?" He chuckled, shaking his head,
leaning back, casually, "So, make them care. Lobby the Ministry, stretch
your legs with some signs. Show them that not only does your vote matter,
but your work, your productivity." He raises a single finger, eyes glancing
to the side, "We all make bad decisions in the heat of the moment. Like
electing a tactless gimp that's a sterling embarrassment to Krondstadt itself
in a race that had no better option. But there's no harm in admitting a bad
choice was made." "I just wonder what'll come first. The ghostwrit public

Following a surge of political unrest in Sol, the Sol Ascendancy's typically
docile Council of Magistrates nonetheless held a no-confidence vote in November
of 2370, aimed at unseating the elected Consul, Jovian Rodion Turgenev, from
office. The Council, citing heavy pressure from prole constituents and lobbying
organizations that represent them, was formally impeached two weeks later. The
former Consul Turgenev is reported to have returned to his home station,
Krondstadt, in wake of the impeachment, where he will presumably contend with

An absolute media circus takes Terran Media by surprise. A masked figure
presumed to be Venusian, self-identifying as Eva Yan was interviewed as a
public Scion and provided a captivating segment on live holovision. What
followed was something that not even the censors could stop before it
proliferated on other social media platforms: A damning condemnation of the
Sol Ascendancy, specifically of the Provost Marshall.

The accusations ranged from "Crimes against humanity through dereliction of
duty and neglect towards the people of Sol by ignoring warnings about the
outer rim." Using the Worker's Union as an example of organizations that
'mysteriously' preserved lives before the so-called unified government, to
"Willingly labeling innocent civilians as criminals while doing nothing to
stop the communication's grid shutdowns, confirmed to be malicious acts, and
costing lives through zero investigations into their cause."

Before the holofeed cuts, an appeal to morality shifts towards the military
itself, posing the question: "Are you willing to follow her orders, if she's
willing to let your family die through inaction? Can you trust a commanding
officer like that during a combat situation?"

"After the successful gambit started by the figure known as Eva Yan, Consul
Angus Johnson has taken it upon himself to have talks with the rest of the

shuffling around reports. "We have been told by insiders that he is trying

government. Trying to fulfill his promise as the Consul of the people, many
inside the Ascendancy building seem to whisper about some major changes. But
as of yet, we are still awaiting the final news of what will happen." He

Tucker for the latest scoop."

The screen changes to a screen just outside the Ascendancy building. "This
just in, Consul Angus Johnson is finalizing his meetings and is about to talk
with Adjutant and Ex-Marshall Stanton Redgrave about moves for the future.
Though it does seem he is taking the more dominant role in the government.
Perhaps the two parties can work together after this bout of political

A massive Martian can be seen sitting behind a desk as he shuffles papers
about. Looking at the camera his steel eyes move to become softer before he
speaks. "Greetings people of Sol. This is Angus Johnson your Head of State,
I have asked Mr. Redgrave for his counsel over the proposed laws of drugs
their use and distribution." He signs a paper on his desk and passes it off
to an assistant.

"We will be structured into a three-class system, Class 0 will be unregulated
and freely moved through the people. Class 1 will be restricted in its
creation and distribution as the process of or use may harm the individual or
another around them. Class 2 will be outright banned, those with it in their
possession will be fined and it will be placed on their record. Class 2 have
effects that harm others around them more directly and as such, must be taken
off the street where ever possible."

After the most recent meeting of the Biodyne management with Biodyne
shareholders, a shift in its management passed. The former Senior Consultant
rose into the position of Chairwoman while the previous Chairman assumed the
position of Senior Consultant.

This appears to have been on the personal wish of London Oaksley after seeing
the former Senior Consultant, Antoinette Winters, involve herself
significantly with Biodyne's interests and that of its shareholders in sector
seven. It was then with pride that the announcement was made, surprising the
then newly-risen Chairwoman Winters with the rise to the board.

In an interview following the change, Chairwoman Winters responded with the
following statement "We are all thankful for all of the contributions the now
Consultant London Oaksley has brought to us here at Biodyne, and to the Sol
at large, in his time as Chairman. Citing specifically the significant
progress brought in the field of cybernetics. And as we have before, we will
continue to work closely together, hand in hand, to see Biodyne flourish and
to see the growth of the well-being of all sentient life." She began to smile
sweetly, a more genuine one than a corporate one, "And now, more than ever
before, it is important that we work together; and yes, it is hard to find
this sort of unity in this day and age. With all the distrust, with all the
greed, and violence, but whos to say that we cant at least try? Changes
always come, and it is up to all of us, to see it change for the better ."

Communication networks connecting Highguard Station to Earth have been reported
as offline, the first outage since the launch of the Sol Matrix decades earlier.
Though the station remains irrevocably visible from space, it appears to be dark
and out of order - the landing facilities and airlocks, as dependent upon the
matrix and electrical power to operate as any other part of Highguard and any
other station, have made outside observation the only available option.
Officials may be planning a rescue operation, though have been dissuaded by the
risk of exposing the station's residents to the vacuum of space should they
succeed at manually prying open the airlock. Without being able to communicate
with the people inside to provide them with instructions that would preserve
their safety, the risk may outweigh the possibility for recovery.

Discovering the cause behind the outage remains at the forefront of most
recovery or rescue plans, as restoring power and matrix connectivity would be
the simplest and safest solution to what has swiftly become a dangerous problem.
Though for the time being no other outages have been reported, fears have been
communicated from the system's remote colonies, particularly those wholly
reliant on power to maintain breathable air.

With the incident reported at Highguard station regarding of loss of
communication and power, a relief operation was swiftly ordered underway by
Secretary of the Homeland Stanton Redgrave with the full backing of the newly
founded Senate and UCS Head of State Angus Johnson. The operation, comprised
of several UCS relief frigates and escort crafts, allowed officials to
approach the station and investigate with the help of the Corporate
Collective and the Biodyne corporation, both of which provided specialists in
engineering and medicine to assist should the worst come to pass, among them
Collective expert Sato Nacamora and a team of five top medical professionals,
amply equipped, chosen by Chairman Antoinette Winters.

Access to the station was gained by erecting sealed docking enclosures to the
powered down airlocks, ensuring that even if the inner airlock doors had
failed the seal remained intact from the outside. With the UCS Praetorian
known commonly as "Ghost" given authority to lead the physical charge with
two of his fellow top-tier, MK-2-clad service members, a small team of
marines was able to board Highguard and establish safety protocols for the
team of corporate and medical specialists to follow.

On board...

The Praetorian Ghost was able to swiftly determine that the matrix
communications network had been irrevocably made inoperable, though no
physical damage could be identified within the station's comm-node. Using
his extensive knowledge of matrix and computing systems he was able to
determine that a massive electromagnetic pulse was the most likely culprit,
and that the damage to the station was not by any means limited to its matrix
connectivity or power networks. With even the backup generators for the
station's oxygen and life support systems starting to fail, it soon became
clear that an extraction of station residents would be the only option.

It began with the frantic employees of the solar system's most popular fast
food restaurant and ended with the independent bounty hunters crowding the
Neon Outlaw. The Praetorians covered every inch of the station to ensure
every living person was escorted to the UCS frigates and escort crafts
awaiting them at the temporarily sealed airlocks. The damaged communications
node was removed and brought back for Collective research, delivered into the
hands of Sato Nacamora, while the many Highguard refugees were given medical
examinations and - where needed - on-site treatment by Biodyne's on-hand
team.

The station remains dark, its life support systems predicted to permanently
fail within the next twenty four to thirty six hours, but by the joint
efforts of the system's finest its residents have been safely evacuated to
Earth.

Refugees pouring into Sector 7 from the remote Krondstadt Station have arrived
in droves, reporting chaos from their home station that began with the suspected
assassination of governor Konstantin Turgenev - a popular local ruler, though a
controversial figure in the intergalactic political landscape, not the least of
which was earned through his well-documented and questionable association with
his "nephew," a man who was later revealed to be a mass murderer operating under
a new, Krondstadt-provided identity.

The chaos began on the morning of May 2nd, 2371 TST, when the luxury residential
block housing many Krondstadt Station officials went under an unplanned and
unexpected lockdown. The local security force team was still attempting to
manually override the locks to free Turgenev, who is reported to have threatened
to execute them if they did not succeed within five minutes, when a slight, high
pitched noise began to be detected. When the pulse cleared, intrastation comms
were no longer functioning. The security force attempted to call in outside help
only to find that standard matrix networks were also down. As Turgenev screamed,
unable to be heard, at the sealed hatches of the block, the interior airlocks
deactivated. Turgenev, as well as and his entire cabinet, were subsequently
suffocated to death.

The local security force team, unable to alter the station's alert status
without matrix connectivity or localized communications intact, are being
hailed as heroes for moving through the massive, sprawling station on foot to
drag residents out of their cabins and orchestrate a mass evacuation by shuttle,
and not a moment too soon. No sooner had people been cleared out of a block than
that block was sealed behind them and its airlocks deactivated.

A single individual with strange, deformed ears was captured in the process of
fleeing the station's communications node. In his possession was a device of
unknown origins and without obvious controls. This device, taken into custody
with the yet unnamed stranger, was transported to Sector 7, presumably to
await inspection.

Forty-two shuttles carrying the entire population of Krondstadt Station - short
the governor's cabinet and the Jovian peoples' pollical leadership - now seek
refuge on Earth.

After the incident on Krondstadt, Stanton Redgrave as Secretary of the
Homeland has declared a state of emergency to enable him greater powers for
dealing with this urgent humanitarian and defense crisis. The refugees from
Krondstadt and other stations have been provided with safe docking in

The prisoner captured aboard the station, having been turned over to UCS

Union Councilor Skyla Windsor, with the generous help of engineer Angelo
Salvatori, Martian rancher and bar-owner Gabriel Castle, Head of State Angus
Johnson, and shuttle-operator Richard Kinman, has deployed a vast number of
supplies toward disaster relief efforts. Mining anchors, drills, and vessels
with cargo bays of supplies have been delivered to the USC and Biodyne to
assist them in their work to benefit the ever-increasing number of displaced
peoples.

Salvatori, head of the engineering department in the Corporate Collective,
donated his time and sweat toward repurposing mining vessels into evacuation
ships, leaving a fleet of said vessels available to take action should
disaster strike again. The ships have been temporarily housed upon an empty
military drydock by permission of Head of State Angus Johnson, awaiting the
call to duty. Richard Kinman, having offered his shuttle to assist, has
likewise put up time and credits to ensure an out exists for any failing
stations or colonies.

Water, coffee, food, blankets, and cots hand-constructed by Gabriel Castle
have already served to feed and comfort the primarily Jovian refugee facility
in Sector 7.

Situated in a wide and large conference room, on a chair at one end of it,
sits the Biodyne chairwoman. A holo-pad with a large imprinted text is held
in one of her hands over the table, her eyes going between the camera and
this particular holo-pad, and the anticipation she seems to have, indicates
that this little piece, in this moment, might be the most valued, and most
important thing to have. Her eyes briefly travel to besides the focus of the
holo-vid camera, and she nods her head lightly. Her lips part and she takes
a deep breathe in, her other hand raises and she presses her index finger
down on a corresponding button on the holo-pad, a bio-metric signature.
"Everyone," She begins, her eyes still focused on the pad, as it accepts her
biometric signature. "As many of you have likely come to know, or suspect by
now, yes, I am a Scion. Made to replace a person. I know this might be
difficult to understand or to wrap your head around, and it is not a decision
I could make, made to be an alien slave for purposes I do not even know." She
breathes out, an assistant seeming to deliver her a small device with a
needle. "Hell, I am probably their biggest enemy now, having signed this,
and it can't be reversed." The device is used on her arm, a needle piercing
through with the test strip urgently beeping and the words 'biological sample
alien' filtering over the display.

"I have never been too secretive about it, and I am the oddity that never
could consider herself to be anything but human. Maybe this frightens you,
though it doesn't need to." The testing device is set aside in a plastic bag.
"I have freed myself from the alien rule. Their shit, no longer affects me,
an event that was welcomed by everyone, not only here at Biodyne, but in the
government, the then ascendancy, now the wonderful UCS..." She sets the
holo-pad down, her eyes looking at it one last time, before smiling, very
sweet, at the holo-camera, "The truth of the matter is that we are just
people, just humans. We struggle, we laugh, we cry and we love, and then
die, when our story's been told."

"And just as I had freed myself, and many do not know or ever knew, this
endeavor, a wish set deep within my heart, we..." She looks like it is
difficult for her to tell, the sweet smile not waning, with the difficulty
seeming to lie in that that it is moving her, "We, the UCS, people from the
Lotus, the Union, everyone, stands united in this. And I need your help, as
well. If you know someone, anyone like me, enslaved to an alien mind, please
guide them to us, to one of our hospitals. Even corpsec stands behind this,
a united effort, a united belief, that everyone deserves a chance. We are
offering, any Scion, anywhere in all of Sol, whether poor or rich, no matter
where they are coming from, without a single dime of care for who they were,
what they did, or are, the chance to find the freedom that I have found. To
become your own person, to make your own choices, and I can't even describe
how important all of this is to me, and how... It is just insane, how
everyone is helping me with this dream of mine..." She trails off, looking on
the table again, her smile only growing a tad sweeter, "Everyone, let's build
this future, together, in sight of the current crisis. We all stand united,
not only in this, but this is our moment. As humanity, as people, as
individuals, so... Let's make this count. This is our chance."

The holo-vid camera zones out and transitions to a simple text, saying
"Biodyne is now offering to help Scions free themselves at selected hospital.
This will be anonymous, with no data or identity verified and completely
unconditional."

As news reports filter in across the system tracking the progress of Valhalla
Station and evacuation of surrounding colonies, the UCS military has
experienced a status of high alert from Jovian-Martian allied forces near the
Asteroid Belt.

Live footage has begun to broadcast across systemwide networks of UCS naval
vessels engaging multiple advanced spacecraft. The ships appear to be alien
in origin with sleek hulls and chameleon-like camoflauge technology, blending
in with the void as they sweep in and out of visuals. Superheated plasma
fire glances off advanced Jovian shielding technology and a combination of
Martian and Terran railguns tear ricochet off of alien craft, sometimes
obliterating and other times appearing to have no affect at all.

No communication appears to have been made from the invasionary forces and
any attempt to reach out to negotiate a ceasefire has been met with static.

Naval forces are already beginning to lose ground under the assault as
Elysiums's evacuation comes to a close. Forces have begun to move enroute to
Mars to coordinate the second line of protection against the incursion.
Martian colonists have been commanded by the local government to join in
refugee forces pulling back to Earth, though many still have appeared to
decline as they rally local militia to stand their ground in what is
currently being denounced as a stubborn refusal to leave their land.

The War has finally begun, and as the UCS leaps into defensive measures to
attempt to head off or delay humanity's longtime-lurking aggressors, alerts
are sent out system-wide, to every planet, station, orbital platform, and
remote settlement still housing live persons after the widescale evacuations
in early May. With the aid of the Union, Biodyne, and countless civilian
efforts the last remaining non-Terran citizens of Sol have been recalled in
droves to humanity's home-world, and judging by the increasing occurrence of
disaster it was none too soon.

A cell of so-called "scion" saboteurs were uncovered on Venus after the
underground - home to countless underprivileged and poor - was flooded with
what has since been identified as phosgene, resulting in mass cases of
pulmonary oedema before victims could begin to be unearthed from deep tunnels
and extensive blocks of maintenance facilities they had lived in for
generations. Above ground, though the vast majority of the Dome's wealthy
and upper-class citizens had long since been evacuated to Terra, a freighter
registered to the SanFi corporation adjusted course, appearing at first to be
little more than another ship fleeing another disaster waiting to happen,
crashing directly through the once state of the art shell of resoglass that
allowed the planet to be habitable, if only for awhile. The very few left on
Venus, nearly all from the underground, are assumed to have rapidly succumbed
to the devastations of exposure. The freighter was last logged leaving
Venusian space, shards of resoglass still peppering its hull. The remaining
scions are presumed dead with what remained of the New Ainu population.

On the Martian front, the colony's centuries-old and notoriously defective
terraforming machines have suddenly come back to "life." The reverberations
through the planet have been felt from from Tharsis to Olympus Mons, bringing
many of the Red Planet's most remote denizens back from the wastes. Although
few have yet consented to evacuation by the UCS, the population of Tharsis
has reached previously unheard of numbers. The air, they say, is thinning.

As the UCS prepares to engage in war, even its non-martial citizens prepare
for conflict on a staggering scale.

<Holographic News Networks across Earth dominate the airwaves as nearly every

ensuing battle as the UCS joint colonial naval forces are being forced to
employ hit and run tactics while in retreat towards Earth's orbit for what

<Naval forces of the UCS fleet continue to be pushed back to Earth's orbit as
they form a defensive line, trading salvos with the foreign invaders. New
information appears to come in as shots are fired across the sky, visible
from nearly every sector of the planet as burning debris rains down. Footage
of the Scion Mothership some distance out can be viewed between Martian and
Earth orbit, making a steady approach like a silent creature in the void.
Estimates indicate that its approach would likely take another day to reach
orbit as vanguard forces skirmish.>

<As UCS space forces skirmish over the planet, footage suddenly pans out as
local notifications indicate multiple unidentified foreign objects streaking
from the origin of the Mothershiip. Each of them appear to be very large,
shaped somewhat like missiles until further amplication pins them as obelisk
in shape much like the object that had landed on the Initiative platform
during the last major Scion encounter. These, however, appear to be far
larger.>

<Local planetary footage shifts to ground footage as a man in a tweed suit
speaks to the camera>"This is Gene O'Sullivan with BBC News reporting live
from Sector 20 at the foot of Old London Bridge. As you can see one of the
alien Pylons has crash landed in the Thames. We are as of yet unsure of what
this means, but rest assured that UCS forces are on the scene with local
militias."<The obelisk starts to thrum loudly in the background, causing his
jaw to drop just a bit as he turns to get a better look. Nearby military
forces appear uneasy. The top of the obelisk glows and sweeping light comes
off of it much like a scanner. Screaming can be heard and the camera turns
just in time for a massive carapace covered monster with humanoid features
crashes into the reporter to brutalize him.>

<Pylons rain from the sky across earth, penetrating the defensive force lines

[ Press (c)ontinue, (r)efresh, (b)ack, (q)uit or hit (h)elp ] (56% complete)
in orbit as they attempt to shoot them down to no avail. They're simply too
fast. One in particular breaches the atmosphere over Sector 7 with a red hot
streak sending a sonic boom off of the surface that can be heard for miles
and miles. It crashes down directly next to the Spire like a bomb going off,
sending debris scattering across the area as Valkyrie sirens go off with
emergency responders>

<The pylon in Central Sector 7 brims with energy as it thrums, the sound
deafening as it rings off of nearby buildings. The spire ripples in response
before the same light shines off of the top of it to sweep the area. A
gargantuan creature phases into existence, its eyes swiveling in its head as
it turns its attention to Earth's forces comprising of Stanton Redgrave, The
Ghost, Head of State Angus Johnson, a masked Militia Leader, and Heather
Lambeth as the heads of local militia and security forces.>

- Local in room beginning to the Event

The large beast lets out a superheated breath of air from its nostrils as he
gazes upon the assembled forces. The pylon's scanner sweeps down afterwards
and a number of other more lithely human shaped armored beings phase in next
to it with weapons at the ready. Elsewhere, multiple yells and shrieks can
be heard as alien assaulters fill the streets.

<Cheers echo across Sector 7 as combined allied forces manage to repel the
first of what are likely to be many assaults, though other sectors around the
world appear to be worse for wear. Joint forces across the planet fall one
by one as refugees evacuate with Valkyrie dropships towards what appears to
be becoming the last bastion of Humanity in the midst of the orbital battle,
Sector 7.>

<Foreign invasionary forces clash with Allied Forces naval vessels in orbit,
trading a salvo of blows that appear to leave humanity's heroes steadily
dwindling in the face of the onslaught as they press inward towards Valhalla
Station. It's about this time that the legendary vessel CSN Cerberus streaks
across the sky being chased by hundreds of fighter vessels like a locust
swarm. The ship activates emergency thrusters and turns into a banking
maneuver akin to that of old naval strategy as if butting up against waves to
focus all of its laser batteries into a devastating onslaught that thins
their numbers. Both sides appear to be locked into a stalemate for the
forseeable future as the Mothership continues its silent progress through the
void towards Earth.>

"After a struggle in sector 7 it seems that the fighting did not stop there
for the forces of the UCS. Taking up arms to help rally the people to the
cause, Head of State Angus Johnson has started to send supply efforts to
resistant and militia groups. Going to other sectors in order to help make
more pockets and bolster the fighting spirit of those fighting." A news
report noted as he takes a deep breath. "Many lives seem to have been lost,
but it seems those who remain are working hard in order to fight back the
tide. When asked for questioning Angus had this to say." "We fight for our
loved ones, and we also fight to keep our homes safe. Do not let the enemy
win the mental game, as we all need to do our parts."

<Holonews Networks which have been continuously ticking down footage since
the war began have recently shifted their attention to the Scion Mothership
as sectors around the globe have been reduced to little more than wrecked and
bombarded cities in spite of humanity's efforts to rally. The ominous ship
continues its silent approach as it nears Earth's Orbit before coming to a
halt. Various openings ripple along its surface as the cables that comprise
its armored hull shift and writhe, a swarm of ships launching from within its
hulk to streak across space. They engage with Allied Forces in a veritable
maelstrom of fire.>

<While war footage constantly plays in the background of newscasters from
Sector 7, even more appears to reflect the constant stream of refugees from
around the world. Foreign attack forces appear to largely avoid them,
focusing on military targets and installations while harassing soldiers.
Almost as if herding them.>

<Naval forces pull back to a tight perimeter surrounding Valhalla Station as
alien ships swarm space, glancing off of the atmosphere with superheated
hulls and exploding en mass under return fire. UCS battleships advance to
meet them, trading fire and subsequently being torn to shreds in the meantime
as radio commands echo into the void from their leaders. One of the vessels
splits in two as its broken hull screams through the atmosphere over Sector 7
into a distant crash site that can be heard for miles and miles.>

<Pylons streak through space from the mothership towards earth, penetrating
the atmosphere and streaking across the sky in the wake of the fallen
battleship. Though many of them are destroyed, a few still manage to crash
down in and around Sector 7 as refugees scatter screaming in their wake.
They immediately begin beaming in alien fighters as wounded human soldiers
make a reappearance strapped to mechanical exosuits under the barking command
of Praetorian Soldiers who lead the charge against the swarm.>

<Visual footage of the war shifts outward towards Valhalla Station as a
smaller pylon penetrates the defensive line, crashing in through the wall to
depressurize one of the station's levels. The thing explodes afterwards from
structural damage, sending the station reeling as a single super-amped
berserker beast makes its appearance. It tears through security personnel on
its way to Biodyne Chairman Antoinette Williams's command center as Paradeus
Security match fire. Internal visual footage pans to one woman among them
doing battle with it as countdown timers for -something- the station is
preparing ticks.>

<News Reports from Sector 7 focus on the swarm of berserker beasts across the
city as humanity's heroes battle for their lives. One particular cell of
fighting west of the bridge seems to be focused on in the meantime as
warmachines have landed in the area. The group battling them appear utterly
garish in their clothing with a riot of color that makes every single one of
them appear to stand out from each other and yet.. They move like the Alien
Forces do in complete tandem, dodging in and out with human made weapons as
they unleash a hail of bullets. Their path appears to be steadily moving
eastwards as the Pylon at the Spire thrums loudly, the image of a well known
figure to humanity beginning to steadily materialize - Sentinel.>

<A brutal battle can be seen over the holorecordings of Sentinel fighting
against humanity's forces with stunning displays of psychic power and brutal
use of a weapon that transforms regularly between a blaster and a blade. The
garish group of freedom fighters from West of the bridge continue their
advance all the while, fighting what appears to be an increasing swarm
between them and humanity's warriors.>

<Things are looking grim for the combatants around the Sector 7 spire as
their weapons glance off of the psychic field permeating the air around the
Scion known as Sentinel, his form having bulked up with massive size
throughout the combat as berserker beasts die in droves around the city. The
group of freedom fighters from the west finally arrive on the scene as the
creature crosses blades with a pair of plasma sword wielding combatants and
they surround the perimeter. Each of the individuals in question raise their
hands and his barrier appears to be sapped from him steadily as he screams in
anguish.>

[Transmission 000.000] an icy and distant voice lets out a panted breathe, with
the noise of gunfire going on all in the background. Tiredly and weary, she
sing-says: "On the Crest of the sky, under an inky black void, Valhalla
stands in all her splendour. Our Fallen friends, brethren, family, hold us
up and guide our way. Their lives, scratched and gouged, blood running in
oceans. Impossible is the Magic, now made possible, with the might of their
sacrifice. Gloriously, strange and final. Our future, proven true." The
loud blares of an alarm to evacuate sounds as an odd noise, with some
screaming that follows.

<As the comm message from Chairman Antoinette Winters rings out across known
frequencies, a stillness seems to fill the void above earth as the combat
falters. It's as if everyone around can sense -something- about to happen.
That breath breathe of silence is soon expelled as a building ripple of white
surrounds the station. Circuits and panels explode as wiring frizzles,
sparking into the void as a massive wave of power explodes from it towards
the Scion Mothership. The blast strikes shielding, tearing at it but failing
to immediately penetrate. Still, it holds, continuing to batter and lash as
it focuses like an unrelenting torrent on the precipice of humanity's victory
or defeat.>

The man at the head of the group watches as Sentinel crumples to the ground,
barely breathing as he claws at the air while staring at the sky with a
rictus of a grin upon his lips. "You'll never beat her. Our Queen has the
power of thousands of us behind her. What effort can you Terran Nodes
possibly play?" The garishly dressed man approaches Stanton and stares,
"Please. Trust us." The others of his group stand at the perimeter, failing
to approach for the moment. [ANomaly]

Stanton swiftly stands aside from the oncoming motley crew, "Do it." He
rumbles out, "And don't call me a fucking Nerd." He adds with a baited
breath, [30881]an azure hue straight-edged plasma sword with flexiron hilt
still humming violently at his side as he watches it unfold. He trades a
look with Ghost, "The way we're going to bloody survive this, Ghost. Trust
me, Son."

The leader of the garishly dressed group offers Stanton what could only be
described as a poignant smile. Both sad and, at the same time, relieved.
"Thank you, Master Controller Redgrave. Thank every single one of you here."
He passes him and kneels next to Sentinel as the remainder of his group
rushes in to surround. He withdraws a jackin cable from the base of his neck
and whips it forward to slam into Sentinel's uplink cybernetic. Sentinel's
eyes widen and he starts to scream, "NO. NOOOOOOOOO!" The other members of
the group link with one another, bleeding from every orifice as they scream
in tandem with him, psionic power swirling around them like a whirlwind in
tandem with the shields of the mothership beginning to fail. [ANomaly]

<The power that reverberates across the void from Valhalla to the Mothership
continues to beat upon the shield to no avail until suddenly.. Something..
Happens. The shield falters. It's a brief, negligible, moment that seems so
tiny that it couldn't have possibly made a difference but then the beam
cracks it open like an egg and batters against the hull of the vessel. The
legendary ship, the USN Cerberus, rises above it as the beam batters home,
unloading what's left of its payload to keep the shield broken as the
Mothership splits and burns.>

Local on the ground -

As the shield on the mothership cracks and wavers, each of the group
surrounding Sentinel screams in turn. One by one they burn in much the same
way the ship does, slumping to the ground like broken husks as they sacrifice
their lives to keep the conduit open for their leader. Finally, as the
behemoth in the sky burns against the void, the leader is the only one left
kneeling there bleeding profusely. It's in that moment that he suddenly
shifts, all of the holovid monitors in the area overridden as the Scion
Queen, Renna Redgrave, flickers across them like a screaming demon. He
grasps his throat and his body begins to contort, debris drawing towards
himself as if to form a carapace of metal as his face morphs. "NO. NOO YOU
WON'T TAKE MY PERSONALITY FROM ME." He bellows, his voice breaking with a
feminine one demanding its control. [ANomaly]

Ghost jerks back in response to the sudden attempted helmet grabbing, moving
one step to drop into a combat stance. His gun stays lowered though, glaring
from behind his opaque visor, looking first up at the sky, and then to the
Sentinel slash Renna Redgrave monstrosity. Now his gun DOES point again,
saying, "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON."

Stanton is standing there witness to it all, the screaming- the shouts, the
visage rushing across the holoscreens. He growls, and swipes a hand to his
belt to snap off [32192]a revolving, heavy-duty 'Paladin' energy-accelerator
magnum. He charges it and snaps it towards the transforming creature, his
finger testing the trigger- but pauses as he catches another glimpse of Renna
Redgrave washing across the screens. His eyes twitches, his teeth grit.
Unable to fire.

Ghost follows Stanton to where the creature is. When it seems like he's
having trouble shooting it, he raises his laser rifle at the thing's head and
says, "God damnit, Stanton, shoot the thing or I will for you!", seeming to
assume that something terrible will happen if it isn't killed.

Squeezing the trigger, Nora's shot rings through the air, aimed at the
general direction of the group, picking the slack up for Stanton. [NOra]

The face of the garish man who had been leading the Scion Resistance group
continues to contort, taking the shape of the figure that was all too
familiar to Stanton and the rest of humanity from her last visit to earth.
Renna Redgrave, the Scion Queen. Almost as if sloughing off an old skin like
some serpent creature, her gaze matches with his own as she reaches up from
the body that was most definitely not her own, but slowly becoming one. He
grip takes his hand wielding the weapon. Her lips curl back, exposing her
teeth as metal begins to replace her hair like corded tendrils. And then a
gunshot rings across the silence from Nora's weapon, her head exploding right
before the man's eyes to leave her slumping to the ground. Finally dead.
[ANomaly]

<The battle in space turns to silence as the invading ships come to a dead
halt, floating across the void as if they had suddenly been cut off from
-something-. Gravity begins to pull them to the atmosphere and they careen
upon the planet like metal rain as news reporters stand in awe, collecting
themselves as the final report issues. "It's over. It's really over.. We
won.">

During the second volley of attacks against Terra, Angus Johnson was seen
going out to clear the ways for people all around Terra to gain safe passage
for other militia groups. Being last seen in sector 17, taking a major
beating from several hulks. Eventually seen again in sector 7's biodyne
facility nearly unable to walk through the doors.

Death toll estimates continue to rise as first responders arrive on the scene
following the destruction of the Scion Mothership. Relief efforts are
underway in the resulting fallout of the war as Sectors around the globe have
been rendered largely uninhabitable by foreign assaults to their
infrastructure. Central efforts appear to turn towards Sector 7 as pundits
lament the astounding loss of life following the brutal massacre brought on
by the alien incursion. UCS military forces have reported sightings of
straggler berserker beasts in the wreckage of these sectors as Praetorian led
strike teams have issued ventures to hunt them. Civilians have been advised
to register with Sector 7 relief transports for aid in the coming days.

Further news reports filter in regarding a project underway by city
coordinators to expand the sector's construction teams in an attempt to house
the increasingly large influx of refugees as many have found themselves
homeless or lost among many in shelters constructed by joint efforts.

May 2371: Humanity finds itself herded out of the solar system to Earth as
station after station fails and colony after colony is made uninhabitable by
Scion saboteurs exploiting long-standing vulnerabilities. Opinions as to why
off-world colonies were destroyed while Earth was left predominantly intact
range widely from media outlet to media outlet, with a small majority holding
to the belief that it was intentional - a means to an end, pushing the
species together for some purpose yet unknown.

The Quzot War unfolds late in the month as Spring is drawing to a close.
Pylons landed on Earth like enormous claws, rending the surface of the planet
and turning most of its sectors to rubble. Sector 7, however, the capitol
sector, is left nearly intact. Survivors of the destruction this time pour
into Sector 7. The Quzot descend in earnest and humanity ultimately prevails
against its attackers with the aid of independent Scions. The few surviving
Quzot vessels are destroyed and their so-called "queen" is killed.

June 2371: The United Colonies of Sol, still in its infancy, is rapidly
shifted by President Angus Johnson into the United Sectors of Earth. The new
USE is honed in upon disaster recovery and reconstruction. Secretary of the
Homeland Stanton Redgrave is selected to head the Sector 7 police force,
CorpSec. Areas of the sector previously notorious as ghettos are demolished
and repurposed, given to representatives to house and contain displaced
colony survivors. The Martian representative declines on behalf of his own.

August 2371: A bill is passed the USE that offers parcels of unsettled land
and a handful of ghost towns - areas generally considered nomad territory -
to displaced Martians. It is accepted by the Martian representative after
many rowdy meetings among Tharsis refugees within the Senate building. Great
convoys of vehicles and VTOLs are provided by the USE to carry the Martians
and their belongings out of the sector.

September 2371: The Naoshima Syndicate, a yakuza family previously claiming
dominion over the Venusian Dome, pours credits and support into the newfound
Natsukashi District, promising that every Venusian will be housed and fed by
winter. Their promise is fulfilled. The district seems to erupt all but
overnight, reaching completion after just one month of non-stop construction.
Other newly established districts are slower to reach a habitable state, but
achieve it by early November.

November 2371: USE Presidential elections are held in Sector 7. The sitting
President Angus Johnson does not reenter the race. Luis Navarro, a Sector 7
native, is elected in a landslide vote over his opponent, an independent
Scion and member of the Artificial Life Protections party.
