A group of independant citizens gathered together one night. They viewed
Westside, where they had grown up. The place had truly fallen into
disrepair. Those who once lived in it, languished, falling further into
poverty with each passing day. Suffering. Always suffering. For the sake
ofthe generations that would come after them, they decided to embark upon a
series of projects to return Westside to life! Many meetings were held, and
plans proposed. Eventually the first plan of action was confirmed! And tso
began the process to acquire support for it.

With the nature of the Lotus Circle it only stands to reason that of course
once a new exalted one was selected it became plastered over every newscast
and holofeed in the galaxy, at least for as long as until the next bit of
breaking news emerged. And so it was that the ascension of Venusian
Companion Justice Zhang hit the feeds even before the official lotus
announcement with the rumours having been swirling within the organization
itself for a while. The young Venusian is reported to be honored to have
been selected for the role and promises that the Lotus Circle will once again
be at the forefront of entertainment for the galaxy with various projects
already in the works and a large number of dedicated performers ready to
bring their work to all of Sol. She reportedly has urged those who wish to
either get into entertainment or who wish to help collaborate on events to
reach out to her, no matter whether prole or corporate, orgleader or the
lowliest novice, all are welcome to contact the Lotus Circle and work
together to bring more soul and happiness to the masses.

Murmurs of a new peer arriving at Sector Seven's spaceport made their way
through the usual channels of gossip; supposedly an important Jovian military
officer has arrived on Terra. No less than a nephew of Governor Konstanin
Turgenev himself, the new arrival is Fleet Admiral Rodion Lermontov, a hero
of the battle for Martian independence against the ISS Hades. This highly
decorated war veteran and influential scientist has come for reasons unknown
other than on the behest of his powerful and influential uncle. After
refusing all questions with a brusque curse at reporters, he got into a
waiting black hoverlimo and departed.

In light of recent events with the Corporate Collective, and the passing of
the Chairman Sokolov, the Board members held a meeting to elect, and
interview a new potential new Chairman. After several interviews, there was
a clear front-runner. Ignatius Percivale Fwellington Akeldama was named the
new Chairman of the Corporate Collective.

"It is a true honor to be promoted to the Chairman, but I realize that the
position has some very large shoes to fill. My hopes is to continue the
legacy that Sokolov started. My first act as Chairman is to finalize the
Matrix Shopping Plaza, now named after the former Chairman." Akeldama stated
in an interview, with a bright and cheery disposition, "I am also hoping to

strengthen them. It may take some time to achieve these goals, but I will

The interplanetary airwaves were recently abuzz when Terran native Julian
Goodnight, head of the Goodnight family of Sector 11, stepped into the public
spotlight for the first time in several months. Hounded by independent
reporters at the Sector 7 Spaceport and wearing his favorite felt cowboy hat,
Goodnight announced that he'd just closed a deal on some coveted real estate
in the area and intended to stay to oversee its development. He also hinted
at plans to expand the family business off-world and stated an interest in
building partnerships to that effect.

Goodnight reportedly took possession of the family's resources earlier this
year following his parents' official retirement. Sources say he is currently
estimated to be worth billions in assets.

Well this is a clusterfuck. Solemn and sullen-looking Venusian corporates in
tuxedos and formal gowns make their way. Along crimson carpets to their
individual plush chairs. They murmur to each other in their native tongue in
disapproving tones. After all, this wasn't supposed to happen like this.
With Proletarian Exalted One Justice Zhang stepping down for personal
reasons, they expected they could install one of their own again and bring
Lotus back on the right path.

Unfortunately, they couldn't agree on a candidate in time. Some of the
infighting was caused by the machinations of the ever-troublesome Tarav Rax,
whose storm of media chaos sowed distrust between the different Venusian
factions. Some quieter Terran corporates were convinced by Rachel Moore to
advance their own candidate, further splitting the vote against this
ridiculous outcome. Somehow, every part of the evil plan worked, and from
stage left the crowd can see a brahman leather cowboy hat bobbing up and
down, surrounded by tough Martian guards.

The guards give way to reveal Burton 'Tango' Steele, clad in a rustic brown
brahman leather cowboy hat, a holographic suit showing the dusty landscape of
Mars, and cowboy boots with pointless copper spurs. The Martian reaches for
the faux 1920s style microphone, and the Venusian glitterati hold their
breaths. Perhaps this won't be so bad. At least he's a corporate, and he is
dedicated to the circle.

With a massive smile, full to the brim with unearned confidence, Steele-san
yells in a voice that needed no electronic amplification, "What's clever
fuckers?"

No, this is worse than they all could have imagined. The entire crowd of
Lotus members stays silent, except for a likely inebriated group of Martian
artists in the back, who cheer loudly. The new Exalted One continues, "Thank
you for making me your new leader. We got important work to do. We're the
guardians of culture for all the assholes in Sol."

The crowd listens aside from a few unhappy murmurs. The Martian raises a
slender walnut finger before continuing. "For too long, we've been thinking
about culture as standardized crap, or as Venusian corporate culture. Don't
get me wrong: Venus's culture is fucking flash. But what's beautiful about
humanity is that we got all these different pockets with all these unique
contributions. From the chaos and urbanization of Terra, to the clean lines
and utility of Krondstadt, to the subtle orderliness and politeness of
Elysium, and even the rugged take-no-shit and spicy as fuck food of my home,
our job is to celebrate and promote all this shit."

There's a little more applause now, from smatterings of the groups mentioned.
Steele-san points that slender finger at the crowd and continues. "And we're
not a corporation, compadres. At the heart of it, we're a union. Proles got
culture too, and we gotta protect that. Right below where we stand, fuckers
are making radical new kinds of music and using limited ingredients to make
ace cuisine. It's our job to defend that shit too."

Now there are defectors amongst the Venusian majority. Steele spreads his
arms wide. "Lotus is the soul of the human fucking race. Sure, other groups
feed, supply, and protect humanity. But the work artists do - those that we
support - are the reason why the human race is worthy of saving in the first
place. I'll be in touch with all of you assholes. But let's make sure that
all artists, from those across the street from the grotto, to those playing
in a bar on Seven's Westside, can do their thing and make our world worth
living in. Tango out."

At that, he pushes over the microphone stand and leaves the stage with his
Martian posse. The cheering is more substantial, encompassing about half of
the audience, and the traditional Venusian Corporates look at each other with
dread.

Standing at a raised podium in Valhalla is the Chairman of Biodyne, Beatrix
Foxe, dressed in her usual work uniform of black with angular lines of red,
with the new addition of her high-tech bionic lower leg with a brushed
titanium finish and a walking stick to support her. She waits for the crowd
of reporters to die down before tapping at the hover-microphone with her
finger and clearing her throat. She looks nervous, and exhausted even from
these brief few minutes standing at the podium. When she speaks, her voice
has her characteristic prole accent from Sector 20:

"For the last couple of years I've had tha' privilege of serving Humanadyne
an' Biodyne an' the community as Chief of Medicine, and then Chairman. I
have worked with some amazing staff, an' have been proud ta see how much the
organisation has grown over the last few months as we evolve an' extend our
role within Sol. I have found tha' not only allies in this role, but life
long friends too. And more than a few enemies I'm sure. But I've never been
shy of standin' up fer what I think is right.

But I think it's time tha' the role is rejuvenated with fresh blood, with new
ideas and without the weight that I now carry. For the last couple of years
I have put everything into Biodyne, and while I don't regret that for a
moment, I know that it's time for me to just be me for a little while.
That's not to say I won't eventually return. But fer now, this is goodbye.

I wish whoever steps into my shoes all the best, I've been told they're
rather fabulous shoes after all. And will continue ta support them as best I
can, from afar."

Flashlights flare up, and for a moment, Beatrix Foxe is blinded as photos are
snapped, leaving her a bit unsettled and blinking. Questions are quickly
thrown at her, though she ignores all of them, soon exiting with a
stiff-postured brunette with bright green eyes and a well-armoured gentleman
sporting a groomed beard keeping guard.

"I wish whoever steps into my shoes all the best. I've been told they're

Those words from former Chairman of Biodyne, Beatrix Foxe, confused many,
and to a select few, sparked some quiet debate and secretive smiles. The
time of the announcement of the next Chairman several hours later, however,
opens with a camera-angle worthy of the Lotus, zoomed in on a pair of smart,
white heels, each with a little red cross on the toes, then pan up the legs
to reveal an androgynous blond wearing a smart labcoat with the Biodyne
logo.

"Beatrix Foxe was an excellent Chief of Medicine and Chairman of Biodyne!
She ushered in an era of new discovery, cutting-edge techniques, and set the
groundwork for medical and cybernetic work to be better, safer, and more
easily accessible for all! Truly, Foxe was a wonderful leader, and a bright
star in the medical and cybernetic fields. But as she said, it's her time to
focus on herself. As the previous Head Consultant of Biodyne, and former
Chief of Medicine back in the days of Humanadyne, I'm looking forward to
guiding the Sol towards a new age of innovation, wellness, and enhancement.
Of the mechanical kind, of course," the new Chairman of Biodyne coos.
"During my time here, I hope to focus on teaching the skills I've learned
over the years to new doctors, and finding the best and brightest among the
like, many candidates among the System to propel us even further on our goal
to aid humanity!" A flurry of camera clicks and questions flung otwards the
podium signal the end of this little speech as London Oaksley turns to take
their new position.

All of Sol is talking about the new, high-cost production Coriolanus being
produced by actor/director Tarav Rax. The first movie of its kind in a

his position as Exalted One of the Lotus Circle, Tango secured a live
interview of Rax on his movie and more at his Tharsis Bar, the Ares.

All are welcome to attend. Are there going to be lots of anuses in the

Why is Rax putting all of these efforts into a feature film? Come to the

Rustlings of discontent have rippled across the solar system in the wake of
the Sol Ascendancy's methods when handling recent high profile crimes. What
has been perceived as the Ascendancy's reluctance to charge anyone but the
former Jovian Chairman Mojmir Sokolov in the murders of three people, leaving
the other murderers free to roam the streets and kill again, has resulted in
a petition being sent by matrix for signatures, the results of which will be
directed to the Conclave to pressure them, hard, to take action. The
citizens threaten a civil war in Sol if tensions are not lessened with aid
action.

When cafe fist fights start taking precedence over murderers, questions
arise. Who is the Provost Martial protecting? Change must be implemented,

"There once was a time when the Syndicate was looked up to as some of the

kicking ass where it was needed. Where CorpSec dare not tread. Sticking it
to the man when the man needed it sticking to and dragging in scofflaws when

all we have is a goofball with a monkey and a ship he supposedly won playing

Following some inner turmoil within the higher rankings of the Sol Workers
Party, it was unclear who might rise to the challenge of taking over as
Steward following the sudden news that Malakai Roper is stepping down from
his position. Multiple rumors are flying around about why this might have
happened, and we're trying to track them all down to find out the reasons
behind this sudden move.

But one soul has risen to the challenge. A relatively unknown man by the
name of Tyran Vardin, a survivor of the Tharsis Conflict in which many
Martian lives were lost. We managed to track him down for an exclusive
interview.

"Mister Vardin," Comes a voice from behind a camera as it focuses on a dirty
blonde haired Martian man. He's clearly taken off guard by the apparent
suddenness of the situation, but he seems to keep his cool regardless. "What
are your plans now that your leading the Sol Workers Party?" When it's his
turn to speak, he speaks in a soft voice. "I plan to continue the work of
those that came before me. To make sure the working class' voices remains
heard. To make sure that they're not taken advantage of and maintain safe
working environments." The reporter continues to pester the man. "What about
the Steward that came before you, Malakai Roper? Do you have anything to say
about that? What happened to him?" This earned a quick response from the
man. "No comment." The reporter continues on. "Do you have anything you'd
like to say?" The man on the video seems to take a moment to consider, then
he nods his head. "If anyone out there needs help, or are concerned about
the conditions of their work environment, we are always happy to help. And
the Sol Workers Party is always looking for more people."

(OOC Note: We're going to try to write one of these up for the colonial
metrics per rollover cycle! To address one of the situations in the report,
you can support the metric for the appropriate colonial relation and list
what was done by you ICly to impact it as the actions taken with civ support
<metric> <actions taken>)

Venus (Terrible, no change): A minor diplomatic incident involving a
government employed Terran official maintained the status quo for Venusian
distaste. The official - obscenely overweight - refused to remove his shirt
before entering the bath at a public onsen. When asked to leave he also
refused, and when arrested by local authorities for said refusal was bailed
out within a few hours by off-world superiors in his department. Though this
didn't damage overall relations between their Terran overlords and the
Venusians' perceptions of them - par for the course for Terran behavior in
their mind - it certainly didn't do anything to help them.

Saturn (Terrible (--)): A freighter ship with its last docked location being
in Sector 27, Earth, was caught red-handed during a routine inspection
attempting to smuggle a large quantity of Red Eye into the small and
underprepared Saturni Deni station. Off-world response from the appropriate
government departments was deemed tone deaf and insulting by local Saturni
authorities, as they were simply congratulated for catching and charging the
perpetrator - as if that were new and some grand accomplishment for their
part, rather than something that happens all too regularly with Terran
smugglers while Terra merely pats the Saturni on the head and offers to do
nothing on their part to quell the flow from their end. Saturni relations
took a hit as a result not of the incident, but the Terran response to it.

Jupiter (Terrible (+)): A slight improvement in the relations between
Krondstadt station and Terra was marked by a visit from Jovian governor
Konstantin Turgenev to Earth and a face-to-face discussion with diplomatic
representatives from the Sol Ascendancy about the charge of murder placed
posthumously against a former Chairman of the Corporate Collective, murder
victim, and persistent Jovian favorite. Things may remain generally tense
and relatively hostile between Terran and the Krondstadt government, but the
meeting allowed for a small break in the dark cloud that had been forming
over the relationship - further, it shows promise for greater improvement as
time goes on.

Mars (Terrible, no change): Stirrings of Martian Independence Movement
sentiments have remained at a strong but level intensity on Mars, with
pre-existing negative feelings about off-worlders being supported by the
problematic actions of a few. Off-world investigators appear to have
interceded into a murder that took place in Tharsis without first checking
with the local Sheriffs, which impacted perceptions negatively. The crime
scene of said murder was left strewn for months with trash and bio-hazards:
hundreds of bullet casings, explosive casings, damage to buildings, blood,
guts, and brains, until it was finally cleaned up by Martian civilians.
Anger in Tharsis has further been kept at a level stoke due to rumors of a
corporate Terran building a tourist destination nightclub in their town - a
nightclub guaranteed to disturb the peace and quiet for locals and their
livestock, but also a nightclub owned by a corporate, off-world, Terran, with
anti-Christian themes to boot. None of this has improved the diplomatic
situation with Tharsians. Things remain at a diplomatically terrible status
quo.

Scion (Terrible, no change): With the exception of Abhram Patel, the Scion
whose letter was published by Northwestern News many months ago, there has
been no change of circumstance for the scions on or off Terra; indeed,
sentiments within the conscious Scions - still transmitted solely via Mister
Patel - suggests that the scion perspective is that humanity's plan appears
to be simply ignoring them until they disappear, which is unlikely to ever
take place. Things remain terrible, but have gotten no more terrible than
they were.

Redgrave. A severe tone, an announcement was given to the crowd from an
impassioned man with a CorpSec branded tie interspersed by a copious amount
of podium smacking.

"I come before you in a moment of terrible uncertainty, carrying as we all do
the fear of the unknown, but we are also at a singular moment in history. We
have been confronted by the unknown in a way that is unprecedented. First
with the destruction of the final frontier that tore the hope right out of
our hearts, then the emergence of the Quzot- then, the appearance of the
scions. The unmistakable existence of advanced alien life whose mission and
purpose we cannot fathom. We must not shy away from this, or pretend
otherwise. The one thing we know for certain, the one thing I can offer is
this: humanity has faced the unprecedented before. We have discovered the
unimagined wonders and terrors before. And through our courage, vision, and
faith- both through our purpose and in one another- we have seen our way
through even the darkest nights of our history. And I am here to tell you
from my heart, that we will do so again. The first step, that most necessary
and fundamental beginning, is for humanity as a whole to recognise that we
are one people spread across the void."

"Arguments over faction and party must be set aside so that we can turn our
attention to this most pressing mystery and threat. And that I must tell you
with the greatest sorrow, is that there are those among us that only care for
their own personal story, their own narrative- their own greed, and hate.
Given a chance to transcend our history those subversive bastards behind
these recent challenges to the Ascendancy, have instead insisted on a route
which is no more than a justification for war and violence, the settling of
petty disagreements and the attempted exoneration of dead proven criminals
such as Mojmir Sokolov. They look upon this terrible and miraculous moment,
and they see it as an opportunity to revisit grievances to get one over on
their perceived enemies, to score points. They have lost sight of our shared
humanity, and so they must be reminded. It is our duty, not as the
government of the Ascendancy but as the moral leaders of our species, to
unify our factions, to definitively end the divisions between our planets, to
be what we have always been. One race. One human race. Under one unified
flag, and together, move forward into this brave new chapter of history,
despite those who wish to hold us back in squabbling tribes, despite those
who manipulate the course of our species for their own ends- despite those
who wish for nothing more than their own advancement. You know who you are,
and you are traitors to Humanity."

"I will no longer be the one providing direction due to recent events, that
burden now lies upon another- but I will never give up the fight for Humanity
and the soul of our species. We will emerge from this darkness a stronger
race, a more enlightened race- despite those that wish to hold us back for
their own gain. We will persevere and thrive if we pull together and act as
a unified people."

It ends with the display of the Ascendancy flag proudly standing amongst the
stars.

The announcement is relatively brief, but causes more than a bit of a stir
throughout the crowd gathered at the hastily erected podium within the
CorpSec Plaza: Beatrix Foxe, once Chairman of Biodyne, has been named Provost
Marshall. And it causes no less stir than when she was elevated from intern
to Chief of Medicine as it does now. The reporters are shouting out
questions, there's more than a bit of a buzz in the crowd. There's a few
that cheer, but a great many more just look confused. This was not what they
were expecting.

It is a stiff-postured brunette with bright green eyes that settles the
crowd, making several loud shushing noises with a finger placed against her
lips. Once there is silence, Beatrix Foxe steps up to the podium in a starry
outfit that shows off the high-tech lower leg with a brushed titanium finish.
Glasses are pushed up the bridge of her nose, and after a quick clear of her
throat, she addresses the crowd:

"I would like to begin by thankin' Redgrave fer dedicating his life towards
the protection of Sol as the Director an' then the Provost Marshall. I know
for him tha' to do so was as natural as breathin'. And he'd probably glare
at me and tell me off fer even thankin' him for something that to him was
always more than just a job. An' I feel tha' much more reassured knowin'
that he's still going to be there, at my side, even as I try ta fill his
shoes. Many of us wouldna be alive today, if it were not for him, myself
included. And I will always be eternally grateful for this."

"The last few months 'ave been hard fer all of us, but we gotta pick
ourselves back up come together ta keep fighting tha' good fight. And it's
not always going to be with our fists, or our pistols, sometimes it is jus'
the little things that are going ta make the difference. In every community
on Sol, there is work ta be done. In every nation, wounds tha' gotta be
healing. In every heart, there's tha' power to do it."

"So to start off with, I would like ta invite the leaders of all the
prominent organisations in Sol, from tha' Workers Union ta the Collective, to
Biodyne an' Lotus, to make an appointment with me to discuss issues tha' yer
organisation faces and anything we can do to help. I will also be holding
open forums an' the like over the coming few months so tha' we can start to
come together as a community."

The holofeed ends there, displaying the Ascendancy flag for a good five
seconds before it fades to black.

Seemingly overnight, some surprising changes are abound the Collective's
internal structure. Upper management and some investors are reporting a need
for a prolonged 'leave of absence' for the current chairman. Though reports
are conflicted, it seems that the Collective's hierarchy are at odds with the
current Chairman's position.

"I just think the man needs a long vacation." A man tells a reporter, the
screen listing him as a notable investor. He raises a hand and rubs at the

Was a real pleasure working with him, though."

"I don't see the rush. Management handles things like this." A sharply

another reporter, "Seems kinda strange though. My co-worker Derrick went
into the restroom thinking the same thing, but when he left... Must've saw
one good argument on social media."

For centuries, April 26 has been celebrated as an annual Memorial Day among
Jovians, dedicated to honoring those lost to energy-related accidents and
catastrophes. Although not an official "state holiday," it is traditionally
held on the anniversary of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Following
the advent of intra-system travel, it was expanded to encompass similar
disasters that plagued early space flight and station life. Unlike
Remembrance Day, however, it does not focus on a single catastrophic event.

Today, the holiday is spent honoring women and men who perished while
protecting human life during accidents and disasters, whether crew,
passenger, or populace. It calls attention to the importance of the
essential work crews and human operators responsible for ensuring the
day-to-day health and safety of others, while also acknowledging the
continued dangers and risks of life and travel through space.

This year, in an effort to spread cultural awareness of the Jovian holiday
(and its applicable lessons), a petition is being circulated among the
general populace. This petition calls for the holiday to be recognized as an
interplanetary memorial day and day of public safety and awareness throughout
Sol. It argues that while major disasters are less common now due to
technological advancements and safeguards, accidents do still occur and, in
most cases, are preventable with proper awareness, training, and procedure.

Should the petition (this project) receive enough support, it will be
presented to governmental authorities as part of an official request.
Interested parties are being encouraged to contact Biodyne's Senior
Consultant, Doctor Sera Sokolova, to coordinate or to learn more. She is
also on record as being keenly interested in how these efforts might flow
toward improvements in public infrastructure and safety, if successful.

After much indecision and a bit of floundering upon the chairman's absence,
the board has decided upon a new candidate and it is an employee who has been
with the collective since the beginning. Finally being chosen and with no
preamble, Evangeline Adaire stands in her icy-hued outfit with her eyes
shifting from arctic to sapphire blue gazing at the crowd of reporters
awaiting her statement. Her de meaner is calm and what she says is simple.
"The collective has been my home since it was Aizu Shoto. It will forever be
my home. Undertaking this is something that I have in recent years, been
reluctant to do, but since the Chairman's departure for his vacation..." A
reporter waves a hand and Evangeline quietens her with a look. "Ever since
the Chairman's vacation, it is my duty now to run the collective as a whole."
Another reporter's hand shoots up and the peerage gives him a look. He puts
his hand down and waits patiently. "Despite all that has happened within this
organization, I aim to bring it back to its former glory. Not just in the
fact that goods should be properly ordered and contained but because I
believe that customers should be treated as people, as human beings, not just
someone that you are getting an order from. I aim to make the organization a
place where people wish to go to order their products and to make it thrive."
A reporter raises his hand and starts to ask a question. She shoots him a
look. He quietens. After a moment, the woman nods once and a slight blonde
woman comes behind her to help her ascend the platform. "Miss Adaire has no
further comments." the woman says in a no nonsense tone, leading the peerage
back inside the building. At the end of the report, an email flashes and the
screen shows a box with the words- For business inquiries or meetings, please
contact Chairman@Collective.org.

announces the following. "Citizens of Sol, greetings. Today I assume the
office of Consul of the Sol Ascendancy. I, Rodion Romanovich Lermontov vow
to help the Provost Marshal bring order to the system through settling
disputes and issues through civilian means as well as working with local
leaders, Terran and colonial, to promote various projects of growth and
prosperity. This will be done with Jovian bureaucratic efficiency and
without sentiment, the obstacle that causes the death of many admirable

Forest Preserve - until now left in a hazy category. With the blessing of
the Provost Marshal that shall be no more - this ancient ecological piece of
our heritage is now rather unequivocally under the protection of the
Ascendancy and forbidden to be exploited or developed. I will come to an
agreement with the Union as to its maintenance and care." The flexiron
fingers on his one hand snap before he continues, "The thorny issue of
relations between the Jovians, Mars, and Terra will be the first diplomatic
priority. That is all. I look forward to getting much done in this term."
Afterwards, the camera fades to black.

_________________________________________________________________________
Case: Murder of Five Don Geneva Barrick and Officer Joon Rhee

Accused: Atticus Bridger

Infraction: Major Crimes, Murder and Murder of an Officer

Verdict: Guilty on both accounts

Sentence: Execution.

Reasonings: It is rare that we have as much evidence available to us as we do in
the case of the charges against Atticus Bridger. We have:

+ Witnesses and cameras place him at the scene
+ DNA evidence at the scene was inclusive of Atticus
+ Ship logs show his flight from the scene after on Fringe Maniacal
+ Payment was received from Mojmir in the form of stealth belts
+ Recorded evidence of Atticus admitted to the aiding Mojmir in killing both of
the victims
+ His wife, Marcella Bridger-Drummond testifying against him

It is in the opinion of the Provost Marshall that Atticus Bridger is, without a
doubt, guilty of aiding in the killing of both the Don Geneva Barrick and Officer
Joon Rhee. We feel that his actions more than fulfill sine qua non: without his
actions, they would not have died that night.

I do not find it at all convincing Atticus's claims that he was forced into
aiding in the killing Miss Barrick and Officer Rhee by Mojmir Sokolov, given his
status as General of the Syndicate with a considerable amount of protection and
resources available to him along with the testimony of his wife conflicting with
his own claims.

And while he has admitted his guilt, he still continues to lie about his
involvement, attempting to downplay his actions and his culpability. Not a hint
of remorse was seen, until he was faced with the fact that his life might be
forfeit. Instead he displayed an arrogance that stems from the belief that he
holds some special status and is above the law. He is not.

There is the question of leniency in regards to this case given that Officer Rhee
was under investigation for corruption, but due to his early death, the case was
unable to conclude. Should it have, and Rhee found guilty, his dismissal from
staff would have resulted in two charges of Murder. Not Murder of an Officer. It
is through Atticus Bridger's own actions that the investigation was unable to
conclude and I feel that as a result, he should be sentenced accordingly.

Despite the question of corruption, Officer Rhee was well liked by his fellow
officers, and was still a member of CorpSec staff. Should Bridger not be
sentenced to execution, then we risk undermining our own laws.

Ahead of his execution he will be afforded the following privileges:

Time to speak via communicator to his wife
A cigarette

Surrounding the execution of Atticus Bridger on 18th Terran Standard time, 2370,
a mass shooting occurred simultaneously when three masked men - one rumored to
have been wearing a CorpSec-issue uniform helmet - opened fire in the lobby at
the staggeringly secure Sol Ascendancy headquarters in Sector 7. Two civilians
died at the scene while three more died en route to Biodyne General Hospital.
Ascendancy casualties included Miss Angela Mueller, the elderly secretary who
operated the front desk and visitor counters for three decades, after
immigrating from Elysium Station in her late forties. In excess of the deceased
there were eighteen wounded.

CorpSec militia, alerted by a citizen whose identity was logged with his report
but has not been released to the press as well as the sound of gunfire, stormed
the lobby and rapidly felled the shooters. Tear gas was used to further disable
them, and the facility's security barricades initiated to prevent escape. In the
chaos following the shoot-out and in the thick mist of the obscuring gas, the
assailants are believed to have crawled through the lobby and escaped through
CorpSec Plaza. Blood trails marked a path from the lobby over the top of the
barricade, where all obvious signs of the shooters seemed to simply evaporate.

William "Bill" Hutchins, the de facto leader of the Martian Independence
Movement, addressed the Martian press - such as it is - with a statement
following the execution of Atticus Bridger, who became something of a Tharsis
staple after his keystone participation over the Red Planet during the Terran
Initiative crisis:

"Mornin' Mars. It's with a heavy heart I talk to ya today, havin' to announce
that Atticus Bridger's gotten himself done in. Ain't gonna be no forgettin' what
he did for Tharsis and for Mars as a whole. Without that damn ship we'd've had
no way to lure the bastards out for the Jovians. We owe the man thanks, and I'm
offerin' it: Thanks, Bridger, wherever y'are now. Ya did good by yer home.

"With that said and fuckin' meant, I don't wanna hear about folks gettin' riled
up over this shit. We had a part in the foundin' of this Sol Ascendancy, and by
doin' so agreed to follow at least the better part of their laws. We keep to our
ways anyhow, but our ways don't include murderin' government officers, and they
definitely don't include gettin' caught doin' it.

"What I say to ya'll is this: Bridger was livin' proof of the duality of man,
that a man doesn't only have one side. Nobody's just a hero. Nobody's just a
villain. We've got a little bit of both in all of us, and it's down to each and
every one of ya to decide which one you're gonna let seal your fate.

"This is ole Bill Hutchins, signin' off."

Ascendancy Release Sentencing Statement for Tatsuo Sokolov

Case: Murder of Miss Angela Mueller and several others

Accused: Tatsuo Sokolv

Infraction: Terrorism, Multiple Murders and Murder of a CorpSec Official,
Assault against the PM, Sale of Prohibited Substances, Unlicensed Firearm,
Resisting an Officer

Verdict: Guilty on all accounts

Sentence: Incarceration on Luna for life.

Reasonings:

Within a few hours of his arrest, Tatsuo Sokolov was bragging about having
committed all the infractions that he is accused of. He had in his
possession an unlicensed firearm, prohibited drugs, and his DNA matched that
of those injured at the scene within CorpSec lobby.

It is of the opinion of the Provost Marshall that Tatsuo Sokolov committed
all the crimes he is accused of, and is highly likely to reoffend should he
be released. He showed no remorse, and only exhibited psychotic behaviour.
While Miss Mueller is not, strictly speaking, an Officer of CorpSec, she has
served our front desk for decades and the community. That, in combination
with the number of other people murdered and sheer number of crimes committed
leaves me with no option but to sentence Tatsuo Sokolv incarceration on Luna
for life.

Authorities from Elysium report a massive explosion vaporizing a small spacecraft
as it was hurtling into Saturni space, sending a hail of minuscule pieces of
debris into the planet. The ship was utterly silent on comms before its
destruction and no match to its identification was able to be made.

Case: Murder of Tarav Rax and several Civilians during CorpSec Lobby Attack

Accused: Nathaniel Warren

Infraction: Terrorism and three counts of murder

 Verdict: Guilty on all charges

Sentence:

+ Permanently CorpSec chipped, to be monitored and replaced as needed.

+ Regular monthly parole check-ins with CorpSec officers.

+ Regular therapy and medical treatment with Biodyne, with reports as to the
status of his mental health and memories to be forwarded to CorpSec.

+ Removal of all cybernetic implants.

+ Banning of all future cybernetic implants save for his CorpSec chip.

 Reasonings:

Nathaniel Warren was arrested at the scene of Tarav Rax's murder, where he
was injured with several gunshot wounds to the head. Forensics matched his
weapon to several of the wounds found on Mister Rax. His DNA, recordings and
his attire also linked him to the attack on CorpSec lobby where several
civilians were murdered along with Miss Angela Mueller.

It is my belief that the evidence is more than enough to find Mister Warren
guilty of all crimes he has been charged with. Given the very public nature
of his infractions and the seriousness of his charges, his fate has gained a
lot of interest in the media with numerous citizens calling for his
execution. However, we have a very set criteria for such punishments which
Warren, like Tatsuo Sokolov, unfortunately he fails to meet.

Mister Warren is, without a doubt, a dangerous criminal and a cold blooded
killer. He murdered a popular member of the Lotus Circle. He murdered a
father of three. He murdered a longstanding member of the community. He
murdered a young student, just starting out her career in medicine. All of
them were loved. All of them had their lives cut short prematurely. Because
of this, we are taken the unusual step of permanently behaviour chipping him.
Warren will be required to check in regularly for parole meetings, and attend
regular treatment sessions within Biodyne. He will be banned from all other
cybernetics implants. Should he fail to meet any of the above, he will find
himself transported to Luna.

He will also have all keycard accesses to anything Five affiliated, or
connected to his old criminal life, confiscated.

Of note, I should mention we have the unusual circumstances where Mister
Warren, due to the injuries acquired during his murder of Mister Rax, has no
memory of his violent actions, nor of the last 10 years of his life. But
this doesn't undo what he has done. He is still culpable.
